Fondant CHESS Pieces....

These are fondant chess pieces that I'm going to use for a
commissioned chess board cake.

Mind you, I've so many doubts when i accepted this project. The thought of making fondant chess pieces makes my hand clammy. But my husband, whose confidence in my ability surpasses that of mine(I guess, that's what husbands are for :-)). He practically bulldozed me to accept this project since "it would be too easy for you, trust me!" (his word not mine).

As I sat down at my working table. I just stared at the fondant and wished that it would
turn into chess pieces in that instant! But of course, that would be wishful thinking!
I kept mouthing a prayer to make my hands His at that moment and
help me do these pieces, because I probably can't. But, when I hold the
fondant in my hands, it's like coming home to something familiar and fun and
to something that I know I can do with gusto.

I started with PAWNS, when I finished the pawns, the rest: ROOKS, QUEEN, KING,
BISHOPS and lastly, the KNIGHTS, followed.

I had a hard time making the Knights, though! My son kept on telling
me, "Mommy, it's not a horse, it's looks more like a rat!....
I have to redo it almost three times before my son, Norjan, was satisfied.
So, when he told me, "NOW, THAT'S A HORSE, MOM." ...........ahhhhhhhhh... What a relief!!!!

Oatmeal Cookie craze...

I am not a fan of oatmeal cookie, but my tastebud, somehow got used to it.
My hubby is a big fan of health food and oatmeal tops his list of good eats.
Just to make him happy, i usually bake a batch for his own snack (afternoon & midnight and he nibbles in between snack time, too).

I have probably baked more than a dozen flavors of oatmeal, just for him, but what made a big hit for my kids too, is chocochips oatmeal squiggle.
The chewy goodness of the cookie, is truly a delight, a taste of heaven in every bite.... yum. yum...yummmy.

One batch is usually not enough for the whole family. So i usually make 2 to 3 batches, to satisfy their cravings. And I usually bake this 3 times a week.
So, I was thinking, why don't I sell it?

And, so I did! And it was indeed a big hit for others as well!
